Historic Independence Hall in Philadelphia

Located in Independence National Historical Park, Independence Hall is one of the most important historic sites in the United States. This is where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were discussed, written, and signed by the Founding Fathers. Spanning over 20 city blocks, when you visit Independence Hall in the heart of Philadelphia, you will be within steps of other famous attractions, like the Liberty Bell. There are over 30 sites to visit within the Park, including the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, City Tavern, New Hall Military Museum, and Washington Square.

Guided tours are free and led by NPS staff members. The tour consists of the first floor of Independence Hall. Sometimes the tour will travel to the second floor, but this is only during the slower months of January and February. From beginning to end the tour is about 30 to 40 minutes. However, you need to be in line for security 20 to 30 minutes before your time slot.
Yes. Photography, including flash and video, is allowed during your tour of Independence Hall. The only exception is the West Wing area, where flash photography is prohibited in order to protect light-sensitive documents and art. Photos and videos are also prohibited in the security screening areas.
